Cashmere is the soft undercoat a goat grows against the winter cold, combed out in spring and sorted by hand before it is spun. The scarves in this collection are woven in Kashmir, and most of them are handwoven on the loom.
Most belong to Heritage Pashmina®, our registered line of handwoven cashmere scarves. The name is the mark of the line; the fibre is cashmere, and every label says so.

Cashmere or pashmina
Pashmina is the finer undercoat of one breed, the Changthangi goat of Ladakh, and is hand spun. Cashmere is the wider family of goat undercoat and can be spun by machine, which is why the cashmere scarves here cost less than the pashmina shawls. Grades and handle
Not all cashmere is equal. Fibre length and fineness decide how a scarf feels and how it wears, and shorter, coarser fibre pills sooner. Our guide to the grades of cashmere explains what to look for, and on this site the fibre is named on every label, so you always know what you are buying.
Care
Cashmere needs little. Hand wash in cool water with a mild wool detergent or dry clean, press the water out in a towel rather than wringing, and dry flat away from direct heat. Store scarves folded rather than hung, and clean them before putting them away for the summer, since moths are drawn to worn fibre.

Every scarf here qualifies for free UK delivery, which applies to orders over £60 and arrives in three to five working days. Worldwide delivery takes seven to twenty-one days and is free over £200.
