The weave
In ikat the yarn is dyed before it is woven. Bundles are bound and dipped so the colour falls only where the pattern needs it, and the loom assembles the picture. The soft edges are the signature, not a flaw.
No two lengths line up the same way.

Size guide
One size: 140 × 275 cm. Large enough to wrap across both shoulders, plain enough to fold down to a scarf.

Why wool
What plastic cannot do
More than half the fibre made in the world each year is polyester. Most cheap scarves are acrylic. Wool behaves differently, and the differences are measurable.
| Wool | Polyester | Acrylic | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Comes from | A sheep | Oil | Oil |
| Holds moisture | 30% | 0.4% | 1–2% |
| Warm when damp | Yes | No | No |
| Holds odour | No | Yes | Yes |
| Static | Little | Clings | Clings |
| Plastic per wash | None | 500,000 | 730,000 |
| Near a flame | Goes out | Melts | Melts |
| In the soil | Months | Centuries | Centuries |
| With age | Softens | Pills | Pills |
Moisture: the share of its own weight a fibre takes up before it feels damp. Plastic: fibres shed by one 6 kg wash load. Sources: The Woolmark Company; Napper and Thompson, University of Plymouth, 2016; Callewaert and others, Ghent University, 2014.
How it ages
Better in ten years than in the box.
- First winter
- The fringe softensThe ground loses its shop stiffness and drapes closer.
- Fifth winter
- The border has settled inIt smells of nothing, or of you. No pilling across the body, no shine at the fold.
- Whenever
- A loose stitch goes homeBack to the artisan for repair. It is in the returns policy, not a favour.
Plain. Handmade. Better for age.

Care
Dry clean only, and rarely.
Wool asks for less than most cloth. Air it between wears, clean it when it needs it, and fold it away from the light.
Our repair promise
Wool breathes
Wool resists odour, so it rarely needs cleaning. Air it overnight between wears and it comes back fresh. Clean it only when it needs it.

Dry clean only
Dry clean only. Never bleach. If it creases, iron on the reverse, and gently.

Store it folded
Fold it rather than hang it, and keep it out of direct sunlight, in a drawer or a cotton bag.
